Nerve Block/Pain Relief Manikin

Item No. SB38908
Weight
Make: Nasco Healthcare, USA

Description

Teaches correct needle placement in nerve blocks for pain management under X-ray image intensifier control.

Students will be able to use their knowledge of surface anatomy to identify the appropriate locations for various nerve blocks, the point of needle insertion, the angle of direction, and how to withdraw the needle and direct it to alter the angle.

Students will also learn how to recognize contact with deep bony structures and how to employ radiological screening to ensure proper needle placement, including image orientation, identification of appropriate radiographic landmarks, and the end point of simulation to obtain the correct radiographic appearance.

Use the manikin to teach the following nerve blocks:

  • Coeliac nerve block
  • Cervical facet joint injection
  • Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar facet joint injection and radio frequency denervation of posterior primary ramus
  • Epidural injections at all spinal levels
  • Lumbar sympathetic block
  • Sacroiliac joint injection
  • Splanchnic nerve block
  • Superior hypogastric nerve block
  • Trigeminal ganglion block or radio frequency needle placement

Manikin consists of a specially coated plastic human skeleton head covered in artificial skin and flesh-colored, fabric-covered torso.

Low X-ray density of the manikin reduces the doses of radiation used during simulated procedures.

Includes 38-1/2 in. L x 17-3/4 in. W x 13-3/4 in. H manikin, 4-minute DVD and leaflet illustrating the use of the manikin, and a rigid carrying case.

Two-year warranty.

Why Choose the Nerve Block/Pain Relief Manikin — for Your Pain Management & Radiology Skills Lab in India?

The Nerve Block/Pain Relief Manikin (Item No. SB38908, Make: Nasco Healthcare, USA) is built for a different skill set than a standard venous or injection trainer: it teaches correct needle placement for nerve blocks in pain management, performed under X-ray image intensifier control.

Note: this is not a venous access or IV trainer — it’s designed specifically for fluoroscopy-guided nerve block procedures, so it’s a better fit for pain management, anesthesiology, or interventional radiology training than for general nursing venipuncture skills.

Using the manikin, students apply their knowledge of surface anatomy to identify the correct location for each nerve block, the needle insertion point, the angle of approach, and how to withdraw and redirect the needle to adjust that angle. They also learn to recognize contact with deep bony structures and to use radiological screening — image orientation, identification of the correct radiographic landmarks, and the proper end-point radiographic appearance — to confirm accurate needle placement.

The manikin can be used to teach a wide range of procedures, including coeliac nerve block, cervical facet joint injection, cervical/thoracic/lumbar facet joint injection with radiofrequency denervation of the posterior primary ramus, epidural injections at all spinal levels, lumbar sympathetic block, sacroiliac joint injection, splanchnic nerve block, superior hypogastric nerve block, and trigeminal ganglion block or radiofrequency needle placement.

Constructed from a specially coated plastic human skeleton head covered in artificial skin, with a flesh-colored, fabric-covered torso, the manikin’s low X-ray density helps reduce radiation dose during simulated procedures — an important consideration for labs running repeated fluoroscopy-guided training sessions.

Includes: Manikin (38½” L × 17¾” W × 13¾” H), a 4-minute instructional DVD and leaflet, and a rigid carrying case. Backed by a two-year warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this the same as an IV or venipuncture trainer?
A: No — this manikin is designed specifically for nerve block needle placement under X-ray image intensifier guidance, not for venous access or IV practice.

Q: Can it be used safely with repeated fluoroscopy?
A: Its low X-ray density is designed to reduce the radiation dose used during simulated procedures compared to training on standard tissue-density materials.

Q: What’s included in the box?
A: The manikin itself, a 4-minute instructional DVD and leaflet, and a rigid carrying case for storage and transport.

Q: How do I order from SEM Trainers?
A: Contact us at [email protected] or call +91-88495 63724 for pricing and availability.
