Description

This obstetrical simulator offers an unprecedented opportunity for students to master the techniques needed to repair most common birth injuries. By making their own incision into the soft, lifelike pad, students and instructors can create a traditional episiotomy or nearly any type of first- through fourth-degree lacerations. Embedded within the tissue are discreet structures representing the bulbocavernous muscle, transverse perineal muscle, and external anal sphincter. These muscles can be cut and repaired individually just as they would be in a real patient. Don’t be fooled by its incredible soft, realistic feel; the simulated tissue will remain tough and resilient through many training sessions. The lifelike feel allows the development of instrument handling skills, amount of tension on sutures, and different knot-tying methods. A fully adjustable stand holds the pad and molded base at any angle. The Life/form® Episiotomy & Perineal Laceration Training Kit includes soft pad with molded base, adjustable stand, dissection instruments in fold-over case, one suture with curved needle, and a soft carrying case. Replacement pads available. It is recommended that only one incision be made through the muscle area of each pad.

Why Choose the Life/form® Perineal Laceration Kit for Your Simulation Lab in India?

The Life/form® Episiotomy & Perineal Laceration Training Kit (Item No. LF01044) by Nasco Healthcare, USA is a 0.99 kg obstetric simulation kit that offers an unprecedented opportunity for students to master the techniques needed to repair the most common birth injuries — from traditional episiotomies through to first-, second-, third-, and fourth-degree perineal lacerations. For midwifery colleges, obstetric nursing training programmes, MBBS clinical skills labs, and NMC-mandated simulation centres in India that need a trainer covering the full spectrum of perineal birth injury classification, this kit goes significantly beyond the episiotomy-only simulators in this subcategory by training the complete range of laceration degrees that clinicians encounter in delivery suites. A downloadable manual is available on the product page.

By making their own incision into the soft, lifelike pad, students and instructors can create a traditional episiotomy or nearly any type of first- through fourth-degree laceration — enabling a training curriculum that progresses from minor labial and vaginal lacerations through to the most clinically serious fourth-degree lacerations involving the anal sphincter. Embedded within the tissue are three discrete muscle structures that can be individually cut and repaired: the bulbocavernous muscle, the transverse perineal muscle, and the external anal sphincter — each sutured independently, exactly as in real clinical perineal repair. This individual muscle repair capability is what distinguishes this kit from basic skin-layer-only episiotomy simulators. The simulated tissue remains tough and resilient through many training sessions despite its incredibly realistic feel, allowing development of instrument handling skills, correct suture tension, and different knot-tying methods. A fully adjustable stand holds the pad and moulded base at any angle. Important: only one incision should be made through the muscle area of each pad. Replacement pads are available separately.

Includes: soft pad with moulded base, adjustable stand, dissection instruments in fold-over case, one suture with curved needle, and a soft carrying case.

Q: What laceration degrees can be trained on this kit?
A: First- through fourth-degree perineal lacerations, in addition to traditional episiotomy incisions — the complete clinical range of birth injury classification.

Q: Can the three embedded muscle structures be individually repaired?
A: Yes. The bulbocavernous muscle, transverse perineal muscle, and external anal sphincter can each be cut and repaired individually, exactly as in real perineal repair.

Q: How many incisions can be made through the muscle area?
A: Only one incision should be made through the muscle area of each pad. Replacement pads are available separately for continued training.
