Placenta Model

Description

An exceptionally detailed anatomical model of the placenta. It is a life-size model that shows the structures of the maternal side and fetal side including the inside of the placenta. The maternal side of the model presents the dark red structure of the decidua exposing the cotyledons. The fetal side of the model reveals the smooth shiny amnion (amniotic membrane) partially removed exposing the intervillous space and umbilical vessels. Accompanying an interactive 3D anatomical model with augmented reality is a great tool to encourage learning and support. This platform allows students to engage in comparative analysis of anatomical models as they compare and contrast the structure of individual organs. This initiative also provides a platform for continuing education providing opportunities for all students to increase their knowledge of anatomy physiology and pathophysiology.
