Description
This reproduction of the arm of an 5-year-old attaches to the right shoulder opening of any Life/form® Child Airway Management/CPR Torso. The arm is hinged to swing away from the body for easy accessibility. The arm is programmed to demonstrate the five Korotkoff phases, and an auscultatory gap switch may be used to simulate the auscultatory gap that is sometimes present between Phase I and Phase II sounds. Select systolic and diastolic settings, adjust volume and pulse rate, and easily calibrate when needed. Has palpable radial pulse. The optional external Amplifier/Speaker System (1019721) can be used instead of the speaker in the arm to broadcast sounds for a group. Includes sphygmomanometer, cuff, and gauge assembly. Requires six “AA” batteries (included).
Why Choose the Life/form® Blood Pressure Arm – 5 Years Old for Your Simulation Lab in India?
The Life/form® Blood Pressure Arm – 5 Years Old (Item No. LF03613U) by Nasco Healthcare, USA is a 4 kg paediatric BP training arm that attaches to the right shoulder opening of any Life/form® Child Airway Management/CPR Torso — adding blood pressure auscultation training to an existing child torso platform without requiring a separate dedicated paediatric BP manikin. For paediatric nursing training programmes, PALS training centres, NMC-mandated clinical skills labs, and hospital in-service programmes in India that need to train paediatric BP measurement technique on a correctly proportioned child arm, this is the only dedicated paediatric-age BP arm in the Nasco Healthcare catalogue.
Paediatric BP measurement differs from adult BP measurement in cuff size, anatomical proportions, expected pressure ranges, and Korotkoff sound quality — training on an adult arm does not prepare trainees for the physical reality of measuring BP on a 5-year-old child. The arm is programmed to demonstrate all five Korotkoff phases, and an auscultatory gap switch simulates the auscultatory gap sometimes present between Phase I and Phase II sounds — a clinically important phenomenon that trainees must learn to recognise and correctly interpret. The instructor can select any systolic and diastolic pressure combination, adjust volume and pulse rate, and easily calibrate the arm when needed. A palpable radial pulse supports pulse assessment training on the same arm. The arm is hinged to swing away from the torso for easy accessibility during training and between trainees. The optional external Amplifier/Speaker System (1019721) can be connected instead of the built-in speaker to broadcast sounds to an entire classroom rather than a single stethoscope. Includes sphygmomanometer, cuff, and gauge assembly; 6 AA batteries included.
