Saphenous vein access in infants is a clinically used alternative when upper extremity veins are inaccessible, and trainees must practise locating the great saphenous vein at the medial ankle and the dorsal venous arch on the foot — both of which require distinct technique compared to antecubital or dorsal hand access. As with all IV training consumables, repeated cannulation progressively degrades the skin and vein tubing, causing surface puncture accumulation, loss of self-sealing, and degraded flashback consistency. The leg skin and veins degrade independently of the arm and must be stocked and replaced on their own schedule. Only genuine OEM LF03639 material is guaranteed to match the correct infant lumen dimensions, correct vein channel geometry, and correct flashback pressure for the Infant CRiSis™ IV leg module.
