Pressure Sores Simulator (MW63) — Decubitus Care Training for Assessment, Treatment & Ultrasound-Guided Deep Tissue Evaluation
The Pressure Sores Simulator (Item No. MW63, 3.8 kg) by Kyoto Kagaku, Japan is a decubitus (pressure sore) care skills trainer built for a full care workflow — not just wound identification, but assessment, ultrasound evaluation of deep tissue injury, and necrotic tissue removal in one integrated system.
Comprehensive pathology coverage. The set includes four types of sacral pressure sore pads (Stage II, Stage III, Stage IV with granulation, and Stage IV with pockets), a greater trochanter pressure sore, and three sciatic pressure sore variants including deep tissue injury — giving students exposure to the realistic range of presentations they’ll encounter in clinical practice, not just a single textbook wound.
DESIGN-R 2020 compatible assessment. Wound assessment on this simulator aligns with the DESIGN-R 2020 classification system, helping standardize how students document and score wound severity in a way that matches current clinical documentation practice.
Beyond visual assessment — ultrasound and hands-on treatment. The Full Set includes echo pads for ultrasound assessment of deep tissue injury at the sciatic area, letting students practice detecting damage that isn’t visible on the surface — a key skill given how deep tissue injuries can look deceptively mild externally. Students also practice the full treatment pathway: cleansing, dressing, topical medication application, NPWT (negative pressure wound therapy), and debridement of necrotic tissue using a dedicated necrotic tissue removal set with simulated pus, blood, and exudate.
Two configurations available:
- Full Set: Lower body torso, 4 sacral pressure sore pads, 1 sciatic pressure sore pad, 2 echo pad types, necrotic tissue removal set, consumable set, storage case, instruction manual.
- Basic Set: Lower body torso, 4 sacral pressure sore pads, 1 sciatic pressure sore pad, consumable set, storage case, instruction manual (no ultrasound/echo pads or necrotic tissue removal set).
Size: W44 × D40 × H38 cm. Replacement parts available for consumables (simulated pus, exudate, blood, necrotic tissue) and the necrotic tissue removal pad, so institutions can restock supplies without repurchasing the full trainer.
Developed under supervision of plastic and reconstructive surgery faculty at Kobe University School of Medicine and nursing faculty at Kobe University Hospital.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What’s the difference between the Full Set and Basic Set?
A: The Full Set adds ultrasound echo pads (for deep tissue injury assessment) and a necrotic tissue removal set, which the Basic Set does not include. The Basic Set covers sore assessment and pad-based training only.
Q: Is this suitable for nursing skills training, or only for physicians?
A: Both — the training skills covered (assessment, palpation, cleansing, dressing, topical medication, NPWT, debridement) span nursing wound care as well as clinical/surgical assessment.
Q: What consumables need periodic restocking?
A: Simulated pus, blood, exudate, and necrotic tissue are all available as separate replacement parts, so you can restock consumables without buying a new trainer.
