The Ultrasound-Guided Thoracentesis Simulator, Strap-on set (Item No. MW4A) by Kyoto Kagaku, Japan is the wearable puncture-unit accessory for thoracentesis training with a live standardized patient — the strap-on component of the full Ultrasound-Guided Thoracentesis Simulator (MW4), sold separately for institutions building a hybrid training program.
Why strap-on training matters: wearing the puncture units on a standardized patient lets students practice patient positioning and communication alongside technical needle skills — something a static torso model alone can’t provide. This is the accessory that enables that hybrid session format.
Both clinical access sites included. Like the full MW4 kit, this strap-on set includes puncture units for both mid-scapular line access and mid-axillary line access, and the volume of pleural effusion can be controlled to set different levels of difficulty for progressive skill-building.
Trains the complete clinical workflow: patient positioning, recognition of anatomical landmarks by ultrasound, assessment of pleural effusion level and volume, determination of insertion site, and needle insertion with fluid collection.
What’s included: mid-axillary line unit, mid-scapular line unit, instruction manual, funnel, 50ml syringe, tube with three-way stopcock, plastic jar. (Note: this set does not include the full torso model — see MW4 for the complete torso-based kit.)
Recommended needle: 22G–23G (needles not included).
Replacement parts available for both puncture pad types and the replacement lung.
